Now Accepting ASHNR/ASNR 2027 Joint Annual Meeting Session Proposals

On behalf of 2027 Program Chair, Dr. Ashley Aiken, we are pleased to welcome proposals for sessions for the ASHNR/ASNR 2027 Joint Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, May 14-19, 2027 (ASHNR27: May 14-16; ASNR27: May 16-19). All session proposals must be submitted through the abstract management website:

Session Submission Information

Please remember the following important information when developing your agenda:

  • The Program Committee will review all proposals for placement on the program. Do not formally invite faculty or moderators unless instructed to do so by ASNR staff.
  • All sessions will be in-person only. Live streaming will not be available. All sessions will be recorded.
  • All agendas should be 60 minutes, with 45 minutes of content. Reserve 5 minutes at the start for introduction and 10 minutes at the end for discussion.
  • Please remember to build diversity in your session: Geographical, Institutional, Gender/Identification, Age, Ethnicity, Culture, Nationality, Subspecialty, Practice Environment, Training Background/Institution, Accessibility and accommodations for all levels of abilities (i.e., wheelchair access, closed captions, lighting, color-blind friendly presentation materials, etc.)

Theme & Content Direction: Beyond the Reading Room: Connect, Collaborate, Care

Please incorporate aspects of the general theme of Beyond the Reading Room: Connect, Collaborate, Care as you choose to interpret it. In submitting session ideas, special attention to the following concepts will increase the strength of the proposal:

  • Management and the impact of our imaging which will be a focal point of the meeting. For example, in addition to teaching the audience how to stage a tumor, take it one step further to how it will influence the treatment plan, surgery versus radiation including radiation fields & dose.
  • Multidisciplinary input for every talk and case. Even if your session proposal does not include the surgeon, oncologist, neurologist, etc., as invited speakers, it could include an author who will contribute/edit content for accurate management output.
  • Bridging Expertise to Advance Patient Care. Sessions should emphasize the neuroradiologist as a bridge or connector across specialties. For example, a neuroradiologist reads a case where a patient could benefit from a new or emerging treatment and communicates this opportunity to the referring physician, changing that patient’s course.
  • Patient centered care. Highlight taking care of patients (like every patient is your mom) rather than just reading images. Neuroradiologists have a unique ability to “connect the dots” for patients, for example an ability to connect and advise primary care or emergency referrers based on multidisciplinary knowledge of treatment pathways from specialist referrers.

We are also looking for sessions that incorporate:

  • Appropriate for inclusion in the “Basics & Essentials of Neuroradiology Track”
  • Use of audience response system
  • Cases & pearls
  • Vignettes
  • International focus
  • Panel discussion or debate
  • Patient representation
  • Clinically relevant topics
  • Cutting-edge or emerging technology
  • Assessment of AI technology implementation
  • Early detection or screening of prevention of neurological diseases
  • Emerging interventional techniques
  • Updates of clinical trial results that are relevant to patient care
  • Controversies in neuroradiology
  • Leadership & professional development
  • Innovations to improve workflow & enhance workforce
