Foundation of the ASNR Grants

The Foundation of the ASNR distributes funding to promote research, education, and innovation in neuroradiology that will advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes via several grant and award programs each year.

Foundation of the ASNR Grant Program

The Foundation of the ASNR Grant Program is presented annually to support members of the ASNR who demonstrate great promise for future contributions to the field of neuroradiology and whose proposed project best embodies the goals of the Foundation of the ASNR, namely: “to promote research, education, and innovation in neuroradiology that will advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.” The program is open to a broad range of research approaches, including artificial intelligence, clinical data analysis, comparative effectiveness research, and the development or application of novel imaging methods.

Imaging Research in Alzheimer’s and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases Grant

Imaging Research in Alzheimer’s and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases Grant is a joint funding program between The Alzheimer’s Association and the Foundation of the ASNR. The goal of this program is to support the development of new novel imaging tools, to advance imaging-based research and to provide funding for novel and innovative imaging data analysis as relates to Alzheimer’s and related dementia.

Trainee Research Grant in Neuroradiology

The Foundation of the ASNR offers four Trainee Research Grants in Neuroradiology annually to boost trainee engagement, encourage a broad range of applicants, and build a pipeline of future academic investigators. Funding multiple grants spreads resources across more institutions and lets applicants work with mentors outside their home institution. These grants supplement departmental support and can cover needs like biostatistics, software, cloud computing services, or physical lab support.

Women in Neuroradiology Leadership Development Scholarship

Established in 2012 by the Foundation of the ASNR, together with the American College of Radiology and the American Association for Women in Radiology, the scholarship supports mid-career women with demonstrated experience and promise for future leadership in radiology through administration, education, research, and/or practice providing additional leadership and management skills and insights to enhance their opportunities for future advancement. The recipient will receive a $2,000 stipend for transportation, plus covered registration, to attend that year’s Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI) Summit.

Aldon Mark Berger Mental Health Imaging Research Grant

With the generous support of the estate of Elaine D. Berger, an endowment dedicated to supporting research and education in mental health has been established for the ASNR. The Foundation of the ASNR now invites applications for neuroimaging research to better understand the pathophysiological underpinnings of behavioral health and mental health disorders with the goal of improving treatment and outcomes. This grant mechanism supports innovative, high-impact projects using neuroimaging in conjunction with other methodologies to investigate the neural mechanisms of psychiatric disorders, mental health conditions, and potential therapeutics and other interventions including topics such as anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, mood disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, chronic pain, and substance and alcohol use disorders.
