INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

To complete this activity, learners will watch a video and submit a course evaluation. Once all elements are completed, a certificate will be provided in the Completed Courses section of the My Learning tab. A transcript of all completed sessions and courses is available to download on the Completed Courses page.

DESCRIPTION

This interactive session begins with a series of poignant vignettes describing microaggressions, prejudice, and frank harassment experienced by our neuroradiology colleagues in the professional setting with a bystander present. The power of the bystander in such situations is then discussed. Specific strategies and practical tips for intervening are shared, including “do’s” and “dont’s” of intervention and possible consequences. The session concludes with a small group breakout session for discussion, sharing, and validation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants will have strategies to:

  • Recognize that bias, prejudice, and discrimination exist in the professional neuroradiology setting.
  • Examine strategies for constructively intervening.
  • Explore the collective experiences and perspectives of attendees with the goal of strengthening our professional community.
