As the month in which my ASNR presidency ended comes to a close, I want to thank all of you for the tremendous opportunity afforded me. Throughout the past year, I have enjoyed hearing from membership and carrying their message forward on issues raised. In my current role as first (and future roles as second and third) past president, I am eager to continue to do the same… so please, don’t hesitate to reach out!
I must acknowledge the incredibly dedicated staff of the ASNR and FASNR for their “over the top” hard work and commitment to excellence in carrying out our mission and vision. Under the leadership of Mary Beth Hepp, over the past almost two years, we have streamlined operations and focused on strategy to add value to membership and emphasize neuroradiology’s value to clinical medicine, cutting edge research and forward thinking educational models and content.
Congratulations to my successor, Pina Sanelli for a most successful ASNR 2018 meeting and symposium in Vancouver earlier this month, setting a high “bar” for President-elect Bob Barr to meet and exceed Boston, May 18th through 23rd of 2019! His theme of Connection, Science, & Practice is brilliant and most relevant to the central role played by our profession.
It has certainly been a privilege to represent ASNR in discussions with federal agencies, and in advocating for our specialty at both the ACR and AMA. I was honored by the invitations I received to participate in the meetings of the Eastern and Western Neuroradiological Societies as well as the ASSR. I look forward to a positive and productive collaboration with and among our regional and specialty societies as we explore mutual benefits and economies of scale through the House of Neuroradiology concept, while preserving and promoting the cultures and comraderies that define these societies.
With every best wish for a safe and joyous Fourth of July holiday, and rest of summer, I look forward to my continued service and communication with you.
