NEWS RELEASE: Mary Beth Hepp Named New Executive Director for the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR)

Mary Beth Hepp, MBA, will assume the reins of the American Society of Neuroradiology, a 5,500-member not-for-profit medical society based in Oak Brook, Ill.

Oak Brook, IL – September 9, 2016 –The ASNR Board of Directors is pleased to announce Mary Beth Hepp, MBA, as the society’s next executive director, replacing James B. Gantenberg, FACHE who will retire December 31, 2016.

Since 2010 Hepp has served as the Executive Director and Foundation President of the Helping Hand Center, a social services organization with 300 staff who serve the needs of the developmentally disabled. Prior to that she served as Executive Director for the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc., and the Southwestern Surgical Congress for 10 years at the Smith Bucklin Corporation, Chicago, IL. In addition she oversaw a number of medical and nursing healthcare clients.

“After an extensive national search leading to intensive interviews of several superb candidates, the ASNR Search Committee and the Board of Directors unanimously found Mary Beth to be the most outstanding candidate with the right combination of skills, experience, and professional demeanor to serve the 5,500 members of the ASNR. We are delighted that she has accepted and enthusiastically welcome her to the Society,” said President Howard A. Rowley, MD. Further he said, “Jim Gantenberg has skillfully served and guided the society for 23 years, with his calm, composed and considerate style of leadership. We are sure that will continue with Mary Beth’s poise, management skills, and professional respect earned while leading multiple associations in the past. She will augment and extend the Society’s ability to move forward with our plans for maximizing the impact of the nine specialty societies and foundation managed by the ASNR.”

Hepp has an innate passion for fundraising and board governance, efforts which she led at the Helping Hand Center, while creating an environment of effective, coordinated social services.

“The board and staff of ASNR have built a highly successful organization with great foundational strength,” said Hepp. “The Society is poised to face the imminent challenges as it embraces reforms in the U.S. health care system. I am excited to be joining the ASNR team at this time to help members lead the way to the future.”


The AMERICAN SOCIETY OF NEURORADIOLOGY with 5,500-plus members, is a not-for-profit professional medical society, composed primarily of specialty-trained neuroradiologists, which seeks to advance excellence and innovation in neuroradiology through education, advocacy, research and collaboration with all the fields of organized medicine..
