Gold Medal Award

PURPOSE: The Gold Medal is intended to foster the highest standards of the American Society of Neuroradiology, recognizing exceptional service and achievement.  The Gold Medal is awarded on the basis of both professional and personal excellence, honoring individuals who are superb neuroradiologists, scientists, and/or physicians, and who also are truly outstanding people.  Recipients will have consistently extended themselves beyond self-interest to make contributions that have benefited our entire field.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:
  Individuals who are clinicians, researchers, teachers, or neuroradiological statesmen and stateswomen.  Candidates are not required to be ASNR members.  Nominees should have made extraordinary contributions to enhance the development and/or stature of neuroradiology, including service to the Society.


EXCLUSIONS:
  Current Officers of the Society, members of the Advisory Council, and members of the Awards Committee are ineligible for nomination.  The Gold Medal will not be awarded posthumously, unless a candidate passes away after having been selected.

The Awards Committee will recommend up to two candidates to the Advisory Council, which will determine any Gold Medal Award by majority vote.


ABOUT THE NOMINATION PROCESS:
  Only Senior members may submit nominations, as follows:  Nomination letters must be sent to the Awards Committee via Theresa Espinosa at tespinosa@asnr.org.

On the subject line of your nomination email, please indicate: 2020 Gold Medal Award Nomination. Attach your nomination letter (and nominee’s CV, if available, as a Word or pdf document.)  Be sure to provide the qualifications of the candidate in detail.  The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, October 22, 2019; 9:00 AM Central Time.

It will be helpful if a copy of the nominee’s CV accompanies the nomination, providing it does not compromise confidentiality.  Please note: Confidentiality is essential. The candidate should not be notified of his/her nomination.

AWARD PRESENTATION: The 2020 Gold Medal will be awarded during the President’s Appreciation Dinner at the ASNR 58th Annual Meeting, May 30-June 4, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Honorary Member Award

PURPOSE: Nominees should be individuals (other than those holding ASNR Senior or ASNR Member status), who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of neuroradiology.

Foundation of the ASNR Outstanding Contributions in Research Award

PURPOSEThis award recognizes neuroradiologists who have demonstrated consistent excellence and lifelong accomplishment in basic or clinical neuroscience research, particularly funded research from the NIH, NSF, March of Dimes, etc.

ELIGIBILITY:  A Senior ASNR member, age 50 or older, with long-term achievements in clinical or basic research.

ABOUT THE NOMINATION PROCESS:  All members of the society may submit nominations as follows:

-Nominations must be submitted via email, citing a particular line of investigation, e.g., “Dr. X for his work with imaging of brain function and activation.”

-Letters of nomination must include one or two paragraphs of support (indicating what the nominee has accomplished).

-If possible, a CV of the nominee would be appreciated with the nomination, providing it does not compromise the confidentiality of the nomination. Please note: Confidentiality is essential. If possible, the candidate should not be aware of his/her nomination.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS:  Please send nominations by Tuesday, October 22, 2019; 9:00 AM Central Time to Theresa Espinosa at tespinosa@asnr.org.  On the subject line of the email, indicate: Outstanding Contributions in Research Award 2020.  Attach your nomination letter (and nominee’s CV, if available, as a Word or PDF document.)

-First past president
-Current ASNR president
-Two past presidents
-Two previous Gold Medal recipients
-One at-large senior member
-Chair of the FASNR Board of Trustees
