OAK BROOK, Ill. (June 4, 2019) — The American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) installed the Society’s 2019-2020 Officers of the Board of Directors at the conclusion of its 57th Annual Meeting. The incoming officers are as follows:
Robert M. Barr, MD, FACR
57th ASNR President, 2019-2020
Dr. Barr, of Mecklenburg Radiology Associates, PA in Charlotte, N.C., has been a staunch advocate for neuroradiology, helping to vitalize and rebrand ASNR’s advocacy efforts under the ASNR Health Policy Committee, which he chaired from 2011 to 2017. He previously served as ASNR advisor to the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) and in numerous additional roles for the ASNR. Dr. Barr is the current secretary treasurer of the American Board of Radiology and is vice chair of the board of trustees for Novant Health. He also serves on the advisory board of the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute.
Joshua A. Hirsch, MD, FACR, FSIR, FSNIS
President-elect and Program Chair for the 2020 ASNR Annual Meeting
Dr. Hirsch is director of Interventional Neuroradiology, chief of the Interventional Spine Service, vice chair of Procedural Services and associate Departmental Quality Chair at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Hirsch has served the ASNR in a variety of capacities for many years, most recently as the ASNR primary advisor and alternate ASNR RUC advisor. Dr. Hirsch is a past president of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery and American Society of Spine Radiology. Dr. Hirsch is an accomplished academician with a body of work that includes over 500 publications in peer reviewed literature, editing multiple books and book chapters.
Tina Young Poussaint, MD, FACR
Tina Young Poussaint, MD, FACR is a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and is an Attending Neuroradiologist at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH). She is Chair of the BCH Institutional Review Board, Director of the PBTC Neuroimaging Center and BCH Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship. Dr. Poussaint is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR). She is a Past-President of the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology (ASPNR) and a previous ASPNR Gold Medal recipient.
Yvonne W. Lui, MD
Dr. Lui is the associate chair for artificial intelligence at NYU Langone’s Department of Radiology, and Associate Professor at NYU School of Medicine and its Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Lui is a charter member for a National Institute of Health’s standing review committee in biomedical imaging and a senior editor for the American Journal of Neuroradiology (AJNR). She is a past president of the New York Roentgen Society.
Erin Simon Schwartz, MD, FACR will continue in her role as Secretary. Dr Schwartz is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania and Medical Director of Magnetoencephalography at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a Past-President of the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology (ASPNR), American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR), and Eastern Neuroradiology Society (ENRS).
As the preeminent leader in neuroradiology, ASNR supports steadfast researchers and leading edge technological advances, like artificial intelligence, for better patient outcomes. The 2019-2020 Board of Directors will continue ASNR’s strategic plan focusing on advocacy, education, governance and research to enhance the field of neuroradiology.
