The reported prevalence of NBD patients in hospital populations shows geographical variation. It varies between 2.9% in Taiwan and 59% in Kuwait (Table 1) (8-15). In a Japanese autopsy series, 20% of 170 patients with BD had pathological evidence of neurological involvement (16).
