TELL CONGRESS TO PROTECT NIH FUNDING

Because of the deficit reduction (“sequestration”) deal made by Congress last year, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) faces an unprecedented $2.5 billion cut in January of 2013. Please ask your Members of Congress to mitigate the cuts to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). These automated letters take 1-2 minutes total to complete; simply go to the weblink, type in your zip code and contact information and hit send.

Note: If you are not a medical imaging researcher, please modify the portion of the first sentence of the letter “and as a medical imaging researcher” to wording appropriate for you. Also, delete or modify the last sentence of the second paragraph.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the world’s premier medical research institution, and our best hope for curing, diagnosing or treating diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. NIH-supported researchers use medical imaging to find new and better ways of detecting and treating many different types of diseases and conditions. Unfortunately, the upcoming sequestration cuts would have a devastating impact on scientific research and innovation by resulting in approximately 2,300 fewer NIH grants.
