Seattle -- Scenic, Sophisticated and Site of ASNR 2004

The diversity of cultural and outdoor venues make Seattle and the Puget Sound region an exciting destination for visitors. Situated on the shores of two large lakes and Puget Sound, with remote wilderness less than an hour away, Seattle is flanked by two major mountain ranges (Olympics and Cascades), providing visitors with dramatic views of Mount Rainier and a temperate climate year-round.

The opportunities for sightseeing abound with world-class attractions practically at the doorstep of the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers, the headquarters for the ASNR 42nd Annual Meeting. Among the most popular urban attractions are the Seattle Center and the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, and the International District.

Seattle is home to the nation's 7th largest population of artists, supported in part by an innovative public arts funding program. The arts scene includes the Seattle Symphony, now in the world class Benaroya Hall, Seattle Opera and the Pacific Northwest Ballet, numerous art galleries, the Seattle Art Museum and the Seattle Asian Art Museum, and the Experience Music Project rock and roll museum. The internationally known glass artist Dale Chihuly, also makes his home in Seattle. ASNR meeting attendees who stay at the headquarters hotel, the Seattle Sheraton, will experience the beauty of glass blown art daily as the hotel houses one of the renowned Pilchuck Glass collections including pieces by Chihuly.

The Annual Meeting venue, the Washington State Convention & Trade Center, is an architectural showpiece perched atop a freeway and just across the street from the headquarters hotel. The natural light streaming through walls of windows, displays of artwork and seven acres of landscaped gardens offering views of downtown Seattle and the waterfront beyond allowing Annual Meeting attendees to enjoy the beauty of Seattle while being updated on the newest clinical and technical developments in Neuroradiology.
