 New! Grant Writing Seminar
 Added to 2004 Annual Meeting Program

Practical Tips on Getting Your Grant Funded, a two-part seminar on grant writing sponsored by ASNR and the Neuroradiology Education and Research (NER) Foundation, has been added to the program for the ASNR 42nd Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington. Janet S. Rasey, Ph.D., Director of the Research Funding Service at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and a retired Professor of Radiation Oncology, will present this seminar specifically designed for young investigators with an interest in writing funded research proposals.

The workshop, presented over 2 days (4 hr/day) on Monday, June 7 and u Tuesday, June 8, 2004, will focus on three major areas in the grant writing process: Before You Write, Writing the Grant, and The Review Process. Topics covered will include the elements of writing a competitive research grant with an emphasis on NIH R01 proposals and an explanation of grant review procedures and psychology. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants. While no fee is being charged for the seminar, those interested in attending must apply to ASNR. Accepted applicants must register for the ASNR meeting.

 ELC Lecture J: Advanced Image Processing in MRI

Neuroradiologists and medical physicists rely heavily on processing of MRI raw image data in order to generate more useful results. Topics presented will include MIP (Maximum Intensity Projection), MPR (Multi-Planar Reconstruction), phase contrast MRA, contrast-enhanced MRA, fMRI, diffusion, and perfusion processing.

 Scientific Paper Session

NeuroNews: Developing Research and Emerging Clinical Trends is the latest session to be added to he ASNR 42nd Annual Meeting scientific program. This session will permit oral presentation of a limited number of abstracts addressing developments in Neuroradiology technology and clinical experience that have emerged since the December 13, 2003 abstract submission deadline, are of a relevant nature for attendees and should be heard at the June, 2004 meeting.

Abstracts for the NeuroNews session must be submitted by 5:00pm CST on Friday, April 30 via the ASNR Online Abstract Submission site. Selection for presentation will be made by the Program Chair following a peer review process. Papers previously submitted and not accepted for presentation at the ASNR 2004 Annual Meeting will not be considered for the NeuroNews Session.

This session highlighting emerging information is a pilot project to determine if this type of forum should be provided at future ASNR Annual Meetings.

NeuroNews: Developing Research and Emerging Clinical Trends Submission Criteria

  1. Significant Neuroradiology technology developments occurring since December 13, 2003
  2. Significant Neuroradiology clinical developments occurring since December 13, 2003
  3. Scientifically proven hypothesis with real scientific merit and urgency for presentation (Large series/studies not needed)
  4. Must be able to attend the ASNR Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington to make an oral presentation on Wednesday, June 9, 2004
  5. Abstracts must be submitted using the ASNR Online Abstract Submission site.
